As I was beginning a diary based on yesterday's New York Times article about Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie's Crossroads organization and it's plans for mega million advertising, direct mail and robo-calls, I received a call from local Democratic campaign headquarters asking to commit to office help, driving to the polls, poll watching, etc. During the conversation the volunteer who called asked if I had seen yesterday's Politico article on the new gender gap (I had not) so when I hung up I too a look and while I was reading about polls showing this cycle it's men who are enthuiastic and likely to vote moreso than women, a slick ad on the right caught my eye.
The slick ad took me to the slick trailer of the Citizens United produced film, "Fire From The Heartland", scheduled for release October 11. You're not going to like this and you may not like my bringing it here but I think we need to see what we're up against. Rove's big money, Citizen's United, and if the polls are correct, women who tend to vote Democratic but are demoralized and may stay away from the polls this year. And now this piece of work featuring all the women we love to hate brought to you by the men with the money.
That women through the ages have struggled and even died so these twits could allow themselves to be used for the political evils of the Republican party is beyond my understanding. We fought for choice and have to live with the consequences. But whouda thunk they'd choose this.
p.s I'm doubling my donations and volunteer efforts. You?
